Track day transport from Staffordshire comes down to three questions: how far is the circuit, what time do you have to be there, and does the bike go under its own power or in the back of a van? Brewood sits where the A5, the A449 and the M54 meet, which puts the three Midlands circuits most riders here use, Donington Park, Oulton Park and Cadwell Park, between one and three hours away by car.

This guide is written from the transport side, not the racing side. I've ridden on the road since my teens and I move bikes for a living; for riding advice on the day, the organiser's instructors are the people to ask. The distances are real routes from Brewood, worked out from each circuit's own postcode, and the circuit facts come from the operator's official pages.

Donington Park, Oulton Park and Cadwell Park from Brewood

Cadwell ParkLouth, Lincolnshire 122.9 miles 2 h 35 min M6 Toll, A38, A50, A52, A46, A158 105 dB static

Car routing from Brewood (ST19 9HR) to each circuit's postcode, worked out on 17 October 2026. A van takes longer, and the Donington and Cadwell routes use the M6 Toll.

Donington Park

The closest of the three, on the Derbyshire and Leicestershire border next to East Midlands Airport. It's under an hour by car, so a 7:30 sign-on means leaving Brewood not long after six. On MSV's days the noise limit is a drive-by test rather than the static test the other two use, fuel is from automated pumps that take cards only, and there's no overnight camping at the circuit.

Oulton Park

North up the M6, off onto the A500 past Crewe and through the Cheshire lanes to Little Budworth. It's further than Donington but just as easy a run. On MSV days the fuel is only open for ten minutes on the hour, so fill up on the way in, and camping runs from April to October.

Cadwell Park

The long one. Around two and a half hours by car across the East Midlands into the Lincolnshire Wolds, with plenty of single-carriageway A-road at the far end. A 7:30 sign-on from Brewood means leaving before five in the morning, and that's the situation one of the most useful track day guides I've read puts in one sentence:

You'll have to check in when you get there, so arrive in plenty of time; if you're travelling a long way, it's worth getting a hotel the night before as it'll be an early start.

John MilbankConsumer Editor, Bennetts BikeSocialWhat you really need for a UK motorcycle track day

For a rider in Staffordshire, "a long way" means Cadwell. Donington and Oulton are early starts you can do from home; Cadwell is a five o'clock alarm followed by two and a half hours of driving before your first session, and that's before you've thought about the drive back after a full day on track. MSV's own page notes that Cadwell camping is free from April to October, which is the cheap version of Milbank's hotel. If the bike is coming by van, the timing question changes too: tell me the sign-on time and your plans for the night before, and I'll tell you straight whether the run works on the day or needs dropping off the evening before.

Track day timings: sign-on, noise test and paddock arrival

Every organiser runs its own timetable, and your joining instructions are the final word. MSV Trackdays, the track day arm of MotorSport Vision, which owns or operates all three circuits above, publishes the shape of a typical day event, and the first entry on it is the one that decides when you leave home:

Quoted word for word

Signing On (7:30)

The registration team will check you have already completed the online check-in process and briefing before you can sign on. Then they will check your licence is valid and issue you with a wrist band and vehicle sticker. Arrive early as there are likely to be many of you.

MSV TrackdaysI am new to track days: what happens on the dayRead it on MSV Trackdays

Notice what has to happen before 7:30, not at it: the online check-in and the briefing are done at home, and the desk only checks them. Then there's a queue, because a track day is everyone arriving at once. "Arrive early as there are likely to be many of you" is the organiser telling you, as politely as it can, that 7:30 is when you should be standing at the desk with your licence in your hand, not pulling into the car park.

  2. 08:00Noise testing until 08:30 (static test at every MSV circuit except Donington Park)

Riding to a track day vs taking the motorbike by van

Plenty of riders ride to Donington and ride home again, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's the cheapest way to do it. The question is whether to transport the motorbike instead, and that comes down to what happens if the day doesn't go to plan.

OptionGood forThe catch
Ride thereRoad bikes on Donington or Oulton, riders who enjoy the ride in, the smallest budgetYou start the day tired and finish it with the ride home still to do. If the bike's damaged on track, or your tyres are finished, you still have to get it back
Trailer itRiders who already own a trailer and a vehicle that can tow itYou're loading, strapping and towing at five in the morning, and again after a full day
Send it by vanTrack-only bikes that can't go on the road, Cadwell's long run, or anyone who'd rather drive there in a car with the kitIt costs more than riding, and the timings need agreeing in advance

One point that's easy to miss: MSV says plainly that your road policy is very unlikely to cover track day activity. If the bike goes down at Craner Curves, your road insurer may not be the one paying, and you may not want to ride it home either. That's no reason not to ride there, but it's a good reason to have a plan for the journey home before you set off.

Motorcycle Live at the NEC: 21 to 29 November 2026

Not a circuit, but the biggest date in the Midlands bike calendar. The show's official site lists Motorcycle Live 2026 at the NEC Birmingham from 21 to 29 November, with over 250 exhibitors. From Brewood it's about 32 miles and 40 minutes by car on the M54, M6 and M42, the shortest run in this guide.

Most people ride or drive to the show itself. Where I come in is the bike side of it: a club or display bike that needs taking to the NEC and collecting afterwards is a normal A to B job, priced from both postcodes like any other. If you're buying at the show from a dealer, ask them about delivery first; if it's a private bike you've found through the show, my guide to collecting a motorbike you've bought privately covers the paperwork.

Booking motorbike track day transport

If you'd like me to take the bike, these are the details that turn a question about motorbike transport to a circuit into a fixed price:

  • Both postcodes: where the bike is, and the circuit's own postcode (Donington DE74 2RP, Oulton CW6 9BW, Cadwell LN11 9SE, the NEC B40 1NT).
  • The date and the sign-on time from your joining instructions. MSV sends final instructions about a week before and again the day before.
  • One way or there and back, and whether the return is the same evening or another day.
  • The bike, and whether it's road legal. It needs to roll, steer and brake.

Track day transport is priced on total van miles, from Brewood and back: up to 100 van miles from £250, 101 to 200 from £299, and over 200 from £399, which I confirm by hand. None of the three circuits falls inside the local £99 radius. There's no VAT to add, and weekend days add a flat £50. The full list is on the prices page, and the service is explained on the track day and event transport page.

Honest limits: MC Transports is new, so there are no circuit runs to show you on this site yet, and I won't invent any. I can't promise a date until I've confirmed it with you, and I'd rather say no to a timing that doesn't work than turn up late to a 7:30 sign-on. Before the day, run through my checklist for preparing a motorbike for transport, and the rest of my writing is on the guides page.

Questions about track day transport

Can you transport a bike that is not road legal to a track day?

A track-only bike cannot be ridden on the road, so it has to be carried. As long as it rolls, steers and brakes and suits normal loading, it is a standard transport job: send me both postcodes for a fixed price.

Does my road insurance cover a track day?

MSV Trackdays says your road policy is very unlikely to cover track day activity. Insurance is not compulsory on its days, and specialist track day insurers exist if you want cover.
